[ Unfortunately, Regulus spots Remus before he can work his expression back to something less ... that, and his own eyebrows are raised slightly as he approaches, head canting just a little. ]

All right, Remus?

[ A beat. ] It's cute. [ The whole sheep thing. ]

[It's still another moment of looking Regulus up and down before he's able to close his mouth and attempt to form something resembling words.]

I'm a– [Fuck. His mouth snaps shut again because Regulus doesn't know and now he can't even explain the clever joke. He's just a sodding sheep.] Er, yeah. Cute. That's what I was going for. [So lame Remus pls.]

[ Ah. Well, he knows that look, doesn't he? His smile turns a little sly. Still, he doesn't seem inclined to tease Remus for being cute at the moment. ]

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, personally.

[ His gaze flicks to catch Remus', look still in place. ]

[His face feels hot under the hood of his costume, but that could just be the excessive amount of fleece currently covering his body. He does his best to appear calm and dignified (too late much? he knew he should have gone with Jagger) though he has a feeling the effect is somewhat lost under the floppy ears.]

Figured it'd be a laugh. And did you not get the memo that this is a costume party? As in, not just your best Frech suit.

[ Well, that's just rude. Regulus' eyebrows loft again, a little higher this time. Honestly. ]

This is a costume. [ His mouth twists a little, trying not to look too smug. ] I'm Jay Gatsby.

[ Is he making a joke at his own expense? Probably. ]

[Regulus pls you're essentially dressed as yourself even if it is a bit on the black humor side. Remus smiles, though, taking a step closer and reaching out to toy with the chain of a pocket watch that completes the look to perfection.]

Of course. Fitting. [Fitting and fit like no one else in the room, so far as he's concerned.] You look fantastic.

[ That's the point, isn't it? That he's terrible and has dark humor and pokes awful fun at himself on the regular. It's fine. Or, well, it's not, but he smiles a little anyway, wry and the slightest bit smug. His head tips a bit closer, like they're sharing a secret. Maybe they are. ]

Thank you. You do too, honestly. [ And it could be poking fun but it's not, actually, because as silly as a sheep costume is without knowing the deeper context, he's still a bit smitten.

[Remus gives an undignified snort (since hey, he'd already left his pride at the door, so why put on airs?), tugging gently at the chain until he's pulled Regulus close enough to press a quick kiss to his cheek.]

I look ridiculous, but I do appreciate the vote of confidence. It was this or risk whatever Sirius would have ended up forcing me into by the end of the night if I'd worn no costume. Figured I'd at least get a choice this way. [Though he's feeling a little less proud of his idea knowing that Regulus can't get the joke.]

[ Regulus smiles at the kiss to his cheek but he's always been demanding: he turns his head to steal a proper peck on the lips when he's sure no one's looking. He's allowed to be daring. ]

Sirius is awfully stuck on the costumes thing. Better to pick on your own, yeah?

[Remus isn't complaining, even if the risk of being caught and having to explain themselves does make his heart race. He never minds Regulus' demands, especially when they involve kissing.

His smile broadens as he releases the chain and hums in agreement.]

At least this way I get to pick my method of humiliation. And lower the risk of returning home covered in glitter again. [He doesn't want to think about the repercussions of getting Regulus' fine sheets full of glitter that multiplies itself when you attempt to remove it.]

[ He wants to kiss him again, more firmly, but he behaves for now, maintaining the conversation. ]

Whatever was the glitter thing about, anyway?

[ He's glad there was no incrimination involving his own bed and glitter, but... really? Sirius? Why? ]

[Remus gives him a sheepish look... pun completely intended.]

Is it bad to admit that I don't quite remember? All I know is that I woke up covered in it with a massive headache, and I still occasionally find it in places I'd rather not.

[ He laughs at that, but it's not necessarily unkind. ]

Honestly, I'd be surprised if he needed a reason. Or that he'd do anything not horribly annoying. Though glitter also seems a bit cute...

[ The fingers of one hand brush the back of one of Remus' lightly, easily viewed as Regulus simply shifting a bit where he stands. It's a little bit, but meaningful. ]

[He shoots Regulus a dirty look without any actual heat behind it. His fingers twitch when knuckles brush his own, extending just near enough to touch but curling back just as quickly.]

It wasn't cute, it was epidemic.

[ It makes him huff out a quiet laugh, at that. He appreciates the touch, giving him a look full of ... something, before he replies in a lazy drawl. Maybe he's testing him. Torturing, more like. ]

I don't know... What color is the glitter? Inquiring minds.

[Remus eyes him suspicously, looking all the more ridiculous for the petulant expression peering out from under his sheep's hood. Casually, he lifts his drink to his lips, letting their hands brush deliberately on the way back down.]

...blue. Why?

[ He smiles at this touch too, lips curving up at the corners easily. There's a familiar slightly nervous quality to him but only because he knows he's pushing it. Still, fortune favors the bold. ]

Blue's a nice color on you, if I may say so.

[ Can't he enjoy these moments? Even if honestly he'd rather be snogging him in a side room instead. ]

[Pushing it isn't always a bad thing. After all, where's the fun if there isn't a little risk involved? He might be 'the good one,' but Remus is in with the troublemakers for a reason, and there's still plenty of time for a decent snog in the side room should furtive touches and stolen kisses prove insufficient.]

Come off it. You're having a laugh. I'd like to see how you'd handle being covered from head to toe in glitter.

[ Perhaps later he'll drag him off. For now, this is quite all right. He leans in close, like he's examining Remus' face for any glitter. Then he rocks back on his heels with a smirk. ]

Me? Having a laugh? Never. As for me though, the look would hardly suit me.

[Remus doesn't move back when Regulus leans in, though his breath catches a bit in response to the proximity.

In the next second, he's rolling his eyes. Pompous little bastard.]

Please. I've no doubt that you could pull of any look, should you choose to do so.

[ He likes causing that, the way Remus' breath catches. He's so much better with casual touch now, and, well... it's part of the fun, really. In fact he grins a little, planting a hand on Remus' shoulder for a brief second before dropping it again. ]

I appreciate the flattery, but glitter seems to be an acquired taste. Heard someone I quite like just complaining away about it.

[He gives Regulus a look of mock affront, which once again compounds the absurdity of the sheep costume.]

Someone you like? All right, who is this bloke and where do I find him...

[ No one's paying them any mind. Regulus grins in response, just a touch, voice low so no one can hear him. ]

Can't tell you that, can I? He's quite cute and sweet to me. Good kisser, too.

[He feigns surprise this time, though he can't help but grin.]

Goodness, that's high praise coming from you. Sounds like you're already quite smitten.

Oh, I'm definitely smitten. He's helped me a lot too, I'm grateful.

[ Now he's looking at him with what is definitely just a quiet smile. ]
