Lily had always missed Severus after their fight. Breaking contact with him had felt like she was tearing off a part of herself she would never get back but she'd been trying so hard for so long to help him and there was just... There had to be a breaking point. She'd just found hers.

Things had changed now, though. They had initially changed because they had to, but drawing closer together again was something she could be genuinely grateful for - though she wished it hadn't come at such a terrible price. She'd known since they were children that Severus' father was awful - there was no way she couldn't know, really, being bright enough to pick up on clues - but she had never known the extent of it.

In any case they were here now and her parents had been so happy to help, so willing, and Petunia was a bit of a pill sometimes but they managed all right. Lily knew Severus was out in the back garden and at first she wasn't sure whether she should leave him be or not, but companionship won out.

So there she went outside, two glasses in hand because of course she had. The weather was nice so she wore a sundress, large sunhat, and some ridiculous sunglasses. She plopped down next to him, still feeling a little awkward but - she curled her legs beneath her so they disappeared under her skirt and held out one of the glasses for him.

"Lemonade," she supplied, helpfully. There was a very cute straw in it, Severus.
